Girly girls are not made… they are born! I’ve witnessed this firsthand with baby girls that started gravitating towards pink, jewelry, princesses, and tutus at a stage in their development where I wouldn’t have thought it possible to have such preferences. A tutu themed first birthday party is such a precious idea if your little lady loves all things girly and fluffy.
My client approached me with a general idea of a tutu theme and a color palette of pinks + light green for Josslyn’s first birthday party. Like many clients, she had a picture in her head of what she wanted for the event, but she just needed a little help pulling it all together. The invitation had already been selected, so I used it as a jumping off point when designing the custom printable package. I absolutely love the end result, and it was so fun to see everything printed and assembled on the day of the event.
We used printable paper and ribbon to dress up a cupcake stand that I had made for a previous event. The crowning touch to this dessert table centerpiece was a tulle and organza tutu skirt on the bottom tier. Upon seeing it completed, I immediately dubbed it “The Cutest Cupcake Stand in the World”!
The sweets were crafted by the Baker Babes and included a smash cake for the birthday girl, Vanilla Lemon Sugar Cookies decorated with an edible photo collage, and 3 kinds of cupcakes: Strawberry Shorties, Fresh Strawberry Cupcakes, and Vanilla Bean Cupcakes. Mmmm…
It was my good fortune that Josslyn’s mom is crafty and was willing to get her hands dirty in the party prep process. She made the cutest little take home containers for the candy bar using baby food jars. The lids were spray painted pink and adorned with a printable sticker, while the glass jars had pink tulle glued to them to resemble a tutu.
The birthday girl’s mother paid me the highest compliment when she said, “I had a picture in my head and this is so much better than I even imagined.” It was a gorgeous day at the beach and a perfect day to celebrate turning one. Josslyn rocked her tutu and had fun celebrating with her friends and family. Happy first birthday sweet girl!!
